How Search Engine Marketing Works
hey there welcome back to the big ass boot camp 2.0 I’m the nomad Brad and in this video we’re gonna talk about how search engine marketing works why are we talking about this well it’s very important to kind of understand how the whole system works so that when you get in there to do specific things you you know what you’re doing basically so basically the way that search engine marketing works is that people are searching for solutions on these search engines websites I know that you’ve used them before bing.com Microsoft and Yahoo specifically if you’re using the Bing ads platform so these are both or all three of those are also Kol is included in there they’re all huge websites that get tons and tons of traffic daily visitors millions and millions and millions of people coming to find answers to things to look for what did it whatever it is we come to the internet to look for so your goal by becoming an advertiser on the Bing platform is to direct them from wherever they are when they’re searching for something to your product website or affiliate product so that you can you know earn their business as a customer and you’re gonna do this by going to the Bing ads website and you’re gonna bid on keywords in an auction now I’m gonna explain how all this stuff works a little better in the next few videos but that’s you know that’s what we’re working with here so you’re gonna create ads that will show to people who search for certain keywords you’re basically telling Bing hey if someone searches for best dog-walker then I want to show an ad that says Bob’s dog walking the best in town and I’m willing to spend up to 30 cents for each time someone clicks on one of those ads and the cool thing about PPC which is pay per click which Bing is this type of advertising is that you’re only charged when someone clicks on your ad so there are six stages to you know the process of someone you know finding your ad on one of these search engines number one user searches a specific keyword number two your bid is in the auction for that keyword you’re one of the possible ads that could be shown number three your ad is shown and that’s called an impression anytime your ad shows up in front of someone’s face when they’re searching it’s called an impression the next step is that the user clicks on your ad when that happens you’re charged for the click in this example that we use you said you were willing to spend up to 30 cents for each click that you get so it may be 30 cents that you were charged for that click or because it’s an auction and we’ll talk more about this because you you bid up – you said you would pay up to 30 cents maybe because of you know whatever conditions are true for that keyword you’ll only be charged 16 or maybe even less so we’ll talk more about all this stuff the next step is that the user lands on your landing page we’re gonna talk more about that as well so the whole game of PPC pay-per-click advertising is to spend less on your clicks than you generate in revenue when these people land on your landing page this is true of all good advertising campaigns and methods there are what I would consider not as good well I guess it’s just a different game altogether which is brand advertising and I’m not really talking about that probably if you’re watching this almost certainly you’re not a brand advertiser you are a direct response marketer which means that you want to spend money on these ads not so that people will eventually remember your name more but that you can get a tangible immediate result from and that’s what I’m going to be talking about in the whole course so a PPC pay-per-click is perfect for that because it’s very very targeted and it’s very action oriented so the game is to spend less on the ad than the revenue that you generate from the app and it’s very easy to track what those results are with you know Bing ads obviously there are many factors that will affect this so let’s talk about more of them
