Naming your content is important. It helps readers understand what your website is about, and it helps search engines ranking your content. That’s why custom taxonomies are so important in WordPress.
A custom taxonomy is a way to group similar content together. For example, you might have a custom taxonomy for recipes that includes categories like “breakfast,” “lunch,” “dinner,” etc.
Creating custom taxonomies in WordPress is easy with the right plugin. We recommend using the Custom Taxonomy Manager plugin.
Once you install and activate the plugin, you’ll need to visit the Taxonomies tab in your WordPress dashboard to create a new taxonomy.
Give your taxonomy a name and choose whether you want it to be public or private. Then click the “Add Taxonomy” button.
Now you’ll need to add some terms to your taxonomy. For our example, we’ll add some terms for types of food.
To add a term, simply enter the name of the term in the “Add Term” field and click the “Add Term” button.
You can repeat this process to add as many terms as you’d like. When you’re finished, click the “Save Changes” button.
Now that your taxonomy is created, you can start using it on your website. Simply edit a post or page and you’ll see the new taxonomy listed in the right sidebar.
Simply check the box next to the terms you want to apply to the post and save your changes.
