One of the most common issues that we see with people who use WordPress is not being able to send email. This is a problem because if you can’t send email, then you can’t use some of the essential features in WordPress. The good news is that there is a way to send email in WordPress using the Gmail SMTP server.

The process is actually quite simple. First, you need to install the WP Mail SMTP plugin. This plugin will allow you to reconfigure the wp_mail() function to use Gmail’s SMTP servers.

Once the plugin is installed and activated, you need to go to the Settings » WP Mail SMTP page to configure the plugin. First, you need to provide your Gmail email address in the “From Email” field.

The “From Name” can be anything you want, but we recommend using your name or your site’s name.

Next, you need to scroll down to the “Mailer” section and select “Send all WordPress email via SMTP.”

Now you need to scroll down to the section labeled “SMTP Options.” Here you need to enter the following information:

Choose “Other” as your SMTP provider.

For the “SMTP Host” field, enter smtp.gmail.com.

Enter 465 for the “SMTP Port” field.

Choose “SSL” for the “Encryption” field.

Finally, enter your Gmail address and password in the “User Name” and “Password” fields.

Once you have entered all of the required information, click on the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.

That’s all you need to do to send email in WordPress using the Gmail SMTP server. If you want to test to see if it is working, you can send a test email to yourself.
