One of the great things about using WordPress as your website CMS is that it’s possible to add star ratings to your Google search results.

Adding star ratings to your Google search results can really help your click-through rate, as your listing will stand out from the others.

In this article, we’ll show you how to add star ratings to your WordPress website in two different ways.

Option 1: Add Star Ratings with Rich Snippets

Rich snippets are a type of structured data that you can add to your website to give Google more information about your content.

One of the benefits of using rich snippets is that you can add star ratings to your listings in Google search results.

This is a great way to add star ratings to your listings, as it’s relatively easy to do and it doesn’t require any extra plugins.

First, you need to install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Once the plugin is activated, you need to edit the post or page where you want to add star ratings.

On the post editor screen, you’ll notice a new ‘Yoast SEO’ box below the post editor.

Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab in this box, and then scroll down to the ‘Schema’ setting.

You need to select the ‘Article’ option for the ‘Main Entity Type’ setting. This will enable the specific article schema settings.

Scroll down and you’ll see the ‘Rating’ setting. You need to enter the rating for your content out of 5.

You can also add the number of votes if you want. However, we recommend that you leave this setting blank as it’s not really necessary.

Once you’re done, don’t forget to click on the ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ button to save your changes.

That’s it, your rich snippet star rating will now show up in Google search results.

Option 2: Add Star Ratings with a Plugin

If you don’t want to mess around with code, then you can use a plugin to add star ratings to your Google search results.

We recommend using the WP-Review plugin. It’s a free plugin that makes it easy to add star ratings to your WordPress posts and pages.

First, you need to install and activate the WP-Review plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, you need to visit the WP-Review » Settings page to configure the plugin settings.

On the plugin settings page, you need to select the ‘Google Rich Snippets’ option under the ‘Default Rating’ setting. This will ensure that your star ratings show up in Google search results.

Don’t forget to click on the ‘Save Changes’ button to store your settings.

Now you can edit any post or page and add star ratings using the WP-Review box.

You need to enter a rating out of 5 and then click on the ‘Save’ button.

That’s it, your star rating will now appear in the Google search results for that post or page.
