On Event Vs. Process

Auto-generated transcript

alright let’s talk about event versus process I think this is one of the most important mental models to have to be more successful in business and in life so let’s look at these two examples I made $100 today versus I am making $100 a day on average over the last six months which one would you prefer which one sounds cooler obviously the second one but why see by default our brains are programmed to think in terms of events but we need to switch that we need to start working on that and start thinking in terms of process because you’re never really going to win if you’re only chasing events basically this means you know instead of thinking of that one event the one day where you made X amount of dollars or you got this many sales or you know your cost-per-click was this and you’re earning per click was that one time how much more incredibly valuable is it to be able to do that consistently think of the process so instead of you know wanting to make a certain amount of money how about becoming the kind of person for whom this you know making money is no longer a challenge it’s it’s just a fun game that you get to play it’s how you earn a living and pay for the lifestyle that you want but it’s not it’s not just a thing a one-time thing you know the ultimate event fantasy that we have is the lottery you should never you know think about or plan on the lottery you should be thinking about how do you build yourself up into someone for whom making money is no longer a question it’s not a thing that you hope for it’s a thing that you sit down and do it’s an action that you take it’s a it’s a set of activities or you know skills that you use and the result is more money not you know hoping for one lucky event where everything changes or whatever so just consistently be checking in and saying am I getting obsessed with the event am i obsessing about that one day I had or that good month or that good year instead of you know the process like how am I getting better and better every single day that’s how you’re gonna win you know just keep working on the process keep leveling up your skills keep leveling up your understanding and keep working in and improving and all the things that we’ve talked about come into play here just remember event versus process think about the process not the event
