Low/No Impressions

Auto-generated transcript

okay what do you do if you getting if you’re getting no or low impressions this is probably the most common question that I’ve gotten so the cause number one for getting low or no impressions at all is no volume so maybe you didn’t do keyword research maybe you maybe there’s just not much volume on search for this particular thing there are certain topics for example if you’re doing ecommerce Shopify stuff there are a lot of products that people just aren’t searching for I mean if you’re trying to sell you know Unicorn floaty floaty swim thing maybe they’re searching for it maybe people on the on Facebook have created a new demand out of nowhere and you can capitalize on the search traffic that’s being created by them spending the money to inform people that it exists but if your thing is not already in demand it won’t be on search so sometimes search is just not a good fit for a certain product it’s just not so because people have to be searching for it if nobody’s searching for it then there’s no use trying to get in front of nobody so do some keyword research see how many people are searching for this particular thing and if nobody is then or if you go to the ad platforms and you type in the phrase and no products come up and that should be a warning sign so if you do your keyword research which we cover much more in depth in other parts of the course just look for what is the projected volume of keywords for this time of year you can use the Google the Google Keyword tool which is kind of the gold standard of keyword research gives you a very good idea of what’s going on you can use the Bing ads keyword tool which is hyper relevant to what you’re doing but don’t fully you know don’t fully trust any of these tools they’re all guesses and they’re pretty slow to follow current trends so if there’s something that just started blowing up yesterday the keyword research tools are not going to show them so just you know be aware of that but but this is where you want to go if you’re getting though or low impressions is did you just guess did you just put this out there are there actual products out there for this particular thing is that are there people searching for it and the other thing is I mentioned earlier get keywords everywhere it’ll start to make you better at keyword research just in general because everywhere you go it’s going to show you how in demand certain keywords are the other cause of this is that your bid is not high enough and you’re not even close so again if if Bing is saying that it costs $3 per click to be competitive in a particular niche sometimes you can get away by bidding $0.50 and still getting clicks but some niches you’re really locked out unless you’re gonna play at that level I’m um you really have to get up to close to $3 before you’re even going to get shown so if it says $3 and you’re bidding $0.50 then you just might not get very many impressions they’re not even gonna put they’re not even going to put you in the auction they’re just like nope that better is not not playing the game the way that we need them to so you’re not even getting it close so what to do if you’re getting low or no impressions is one verify the volume of the search term in some keyword tool you can also use more advanced things like SEM rush or a semrush you can use longtail Pro is really good you can use there’s a lot of keyword tools out there but verify the volume see that it does indeed get searched this term that you’re trying to compete on verify competition so go into Google and Bing and type in the keyword phrase and see if other people are selling stuff in that niche if people are selling stuff in the niche if ads for products come up or ads for the product that you want to promote come up then your good competition is good at least to a degree with paid traffic it means it’s worth spending money on for these people so it’s worth spending money on for you one thing you can do is try raising the bid if Google or if being comes back and tells you hey you’re gonna need to you know it costs $5 per click to be on the first page then that’s an example of where you’re probably not gonna get shown at all if you’re less than a dollar so if they come back and they say hey you need to be spending at least five dollars to get on the first page but there is volume out there then you can up your bid there’s actually another trick I forgot to mention in this but you can turn on a an option that’s like percentage of impression search impression share so you can look at out of all the times this could have been shown how many times was my ad shown and so that’ll tell you if you’re at one percent impression share then by bidding higher you could get up to being shown you know 20 30 40 50 percent of the time for those impressions it’s a little more advanced we’ll talk about more later but you can always try raising the bit you can also yeah wait until Bing suggests a bid to see if it’s in your ballpark if Bing comes back and you’re getting zero impressions are very few impressions and then they come back and they say hey by the way just a reminder I told you that it’s gonna cost at least five bucks to get on the first page then you can be like alright well that’d be that as it may I’m never gonna make a profit with the margins that I have so never mind I’ll just move on to a new niche or something and for this refer back to your goals worksheet that we covered that we covered earlier in this quick start guide and find out what your target CPA is see what kind of cost per click you can tolerate and work from there
