welcome back to Clickbank Secrets and in this video we’re gonna talk about some Clickbank secrets from behind the scenes so just for a little background once again I’ve mentioned a couple times but there was a time in my life when I worked for the number one product on Clickbank and I was the director of marketing so I actually was the person that would handle affiliate relationships so we were being promoted by thousands and thousands of people all over from all sorts of traffic sources and that’s how we made a lot of money and part of my job I had a lot of jobs but part of my job at that time was to contact our affiliates and help them to sell our product better so I understand a lot about what’s going on on the other side of Clickbank and I thought that I would share some of the things that I learned from my time there to help you understand how to be more successful on Clickbank because the more you understand how the game works then the more you can look for you know opportunities shortcuts etc and I want you to succeed on Clickbank because I know it’s a you know really good aspiration for internet marketers and affiliate marketers so number one a successful Clickbank product you might be wondering how much money are they actually making you know if you see a product with a gravity of 200 or whatever tuner 50 if it’s if it’s at the top of Clickbank I can tell you that they’re roughly making somewhere in the millions of dollars per year probably at least 10 million so when you’re wondering you know if these products really sell does anybody buy this crap or whatever I don’t know what your thought process might be yes and very likely if it’s at the top of Clickbank there’s this crazy effect that happens where the higher you climb up in Clickbank the more and more affiliates out there just everybody who’s trying to figure out affiliate marketing from people who are starting you know one page SEO blogs that get 10 visits per month and might you know but they make thousands of them and you know sell of one copy of each Clickbank product every month and that’s still and they’re still making 20 grand a month everybody from that to you know big like influencers with with personalities and lists and they’re sending out emails to their list and they’re promoting Clickbank products people who are running cold traffic paid traffic Facebook you know Google like everything people building lists people doing media buying everybody catches wind of more successful products so it’s like this crazy wave that starts to take over spammers will start spamming if we when we were at the number one spot on Clickbank I mean spammers were sending out spam emails to like completely unsolicited like completely illegal spam messages with our affiliate links are like our domain was getting flagged and stuff so this is some crazy stuff that happens when you get to the top of click thing but the point is that all of those products if they’re in the top 10 top 20 probably even far beyond that they’re making millions like these are very very very successful products if they’re in the top ten guaranteed millions probably a lot of them have been making millions for years so just just know that those products if they’re if they’re at the top probably if they’re at the top of their category still but definitely if they’re if they’re on the front page they’re making tons and tons of money and that product does convert to the right audience it will convert it’s it’s you know it’s good it will work to the right audience at the right time yet even a small product can be six figures a year I’ve heard this guy fred lamb who is really really great marketer he’s really good at Facebook Ads and he’s really good at like Shopify like print-on-demand stuff and and drop shipping and anyways he’s very young and he’s very successful multi multi-millionaire and I heard him tell a story about how one of his first successes in internet marketing was creating a book an e-book about Meadows about growing tomatoes now he created the book so he was on the vendor side he was on the product creator side but he was he said that book was making them like half a million dollars a year and that means the way that Clickbank works is if you create a product and you give away usually half to 75% of your Commission’s so that means they were probably grossing a million dollars a year so just their cut as the creator’s was half a million dollars a year and I’ve never heard of that product you probably haven’t either so just because a product isn’t on the top ten doesn’t mean it’s not making tons and tons of money and doesn’t mean that it’s not gonna convert like crazy to the right people if you put that tomato growing book in front of people who are searching for how to grow tomatoes or book on how to grow tomatoes in Bing then it’s probably going to convert really well because it’s exactly what that niche is looking for right so don’t be limited by thinking oh I can only promote these top ten product because I want you know a piece of the biggest pie you can also approach it as you know these other products three pages four pages down on Clickbank are still making hundreds of thousands maybe millions themselves so there’s still they still convert like crazy just because they don’t convert like the top products or they’re not as popular because the top products tend to be about you know health wealth and relationships they have tend to be about dating about fitness and about making money those are the top slots also another thing interesting there is if you see a product that’s not about one of those things and it’s in the top then definitely worth paying attention to like Ted’s Woodworking you know it’s always at the top and it it doesn’t follow the conventional wisdom of health wealth and relationships but it must be a very hungry market and it probably converts very very well to the right people that are interested in it so here’s another thing I learned being on the vendor side where this you know definitely mattered is if a product is hot it’s hot so if you see a product climbing quickly up the ranks of Clickbank it means it’s blowing up and what that means is when someone on the other end someone who clicks on your ad goes to your landing page or opens your email sees that offer for the first time they’re very likely to want it if they’re the right audience right for that product and products we’ll go we’ll have like a massive boom in sales like I remember our first day when we released a new sales video and we we went from we were making about 200 bucks a day or so to that first day that we released the new sales video that just like converted better for whatever reason we made $10,000 in the first day and then the next day we made $20,000 and then it kind of just skyrocketed from there it was crazy so and as we kept climbing the ranks climbing the ranks we made more and more and more because that’s just how it works if a product is hot it means people haven’t seen it yet these these products offer these offer owners are always testing at least the people at the top are always testing for new angles new copy new ways to promote the same product that are going to convert better and when they find an angle that works it starts to blow up and it refreshes the whole audience or maybe it’s a brand new offer you know that nobody’s ever seen before so that’s definitely a good time to get in on a product so I talked about how you know Clickbank products can have long shelf lives but they definitely do decline over time they can still be consistent but they decline over time so if you’re you know you’ve got some keywords locked down you get pretty good traffic on you know weight loss or whatever or women’s dating and then a new women’s dating product comes out and it’s starting to climb the ranks and it starts to you know get higher and higher gravity every single week then you definitely want to try sending some traffic to it because when they’re hot they’re hot yet products that do convert for a long time sorry I talked about this Clickbank products have a long shelf life while the products that I used to work for is probably not making tens of millions anymore it’s probably still making more money than you know then most people could ever imagine making in a year so in that and at this point now that’s been you know it’s been around for like seven or eight years so even though a product’s not hot it still can convert very well there’s still people still have the same problems and when the right person sees that offer they’re still gonna be compelled to buy if they’ve never seen it before because the message is good it speaks to that niche very well so yeah the next thing is that you can see which products are selling you can see more about this in the video that I link to or include below this we’re just talking about the gravity score and how to understand that metric so but the point is you can see which products are selling you can watch the trends you can see you know which products are getting more popular you can see you know the gravity how many people are making money promoting that so that’s one one thing next is they’ve done all the work for you so I’ll show you an example of that here in one second okay so there’s two things I want to talk about here with they’ve done all the work for you one thing is the copy on their sales page so these guys their job is to continually test this stuff testing the headline testing the beginning of this video the first 10 20 seconds 30 seconds whatever they’re constantly testing the copy on the by the way this is a top product in popularity right now it’s got a really high gravity 122 so this means this is probably in the million-dollar million dollars range of of product and I’ve never seen it at the top before so that means it’s also trending so this product is probably hot right now but they’re testing all this stuff this that’s their job this used to be my job is testing it’s constantly putting up tests to see what works better what gets a higher conversion from all of their affiliate so they’re doing the work for you though I mean when they find that this headline is the best headline that works or at least one of them they might be split testing a few different headlines right now this is at least one of them that either is working or they think is going to work you know then that’s a good bet that that’s a good headline to put on like your landing pages or your ads or a good angle to put in your ads as well let’s see a life change story about how I figured out how to I mean okay so this is another example how to easily generate insane amounts of energy for the past few years so that would be another good headline that they put it at the top for for the put it at the top for a reason they put all these things on the sales page for a reason they’ve tested this out and it is obviously working very very well so that’s one way in which the product owners are doing the work for you you don’t have to you know come up with headlines they’ve already figured out the best headlines that resonate with this audience you don’t have to come up with you know angles to sell this product they’ve already come up with that so always be looking at what’s on the sales page even images you know that really work like or this is this is amazing news so they probably figured out that kind of having a thing that looks like a news story it probably works really well for promoting this new you know way to create energy so you might want to mimic that in your landing pages or in your email copy or in your ads you know breaking news new new method you know blah blah blah the other way that they’re doing all the work for you is something called the JV resources page or affiliate page so almost every Clickbank product has this especially the ones that are really really good it’s just called the affiliate page and you can go check that out you can see this one flat belly fix his secret obsession you can see so here’s the affiliate area ready to promote Beauvoir get your link this is how you get your link they have different types of links one then you can allegedly use on Facebook you have one with no exit pop you can check out these email swipes these are emails written to sell the product so you can see from their subject lines what sorts of things might work really well in a headline or on a landing page you could actually just take this copy and put it on the landing page and probably do okay you know talking about Trump they’re talking about news I mean both break through this definitely seems like a news type angle works really well with this thing and they give you they just give you resources you can download these emails for free this one’s you know not super heavy but this one has tons of stuff right so if you go you can check out a different email swipe so these are like example emails that work well to sell this product and you can take headlines and ideas and images and everything from this one cup tomorrow morning burns three pounds of belly fat you could put that on the top of a landing page as a headline the guy lost 84 pounds you know these are these are the things that work they’ve tested them out two giant lists of hundreds of thousands or millions of people sometimes places will give you like banners which are a good place to a good place to find good headlines these guys are crazy sometimes I forget how to just get in there though you have to like opt in anyways but they gave you tons and tons of resources so these people give you like like let’s look for another one I can’t remember I always forget how to uh let’s check out this one that we were just talking about Ted’s Woodworking they give you lots of different pages to promote here it is so sometimes they make they make you like opt-in and sometimes you can just click on just go to the tools page but sometimes sometimes they give you actual keywords that you could test which is pretty nice I mean I wouldn’t you know heavily rely on these but you can use them to get started for sure they give you these things which show you a you know any banner has a headline on it which will probably work pretty well yeah PPC keywords so I think that’s nice of them to do but you know you should be better at keywords than than that demographics that can be really important you can like disable different different demographics based on what they say here so it just once again they’re giving you headlines they’re giving you angles that sell this thing they’re giving you the things that matter to their customers because they’ve tested and they’ve made millions of dollars by figuring this stuff out so you know you don’t have to do the work so that is two ways in which they do the work for you alright so we saw the JV resource page with almost every product has that you can draw so many good ideas from you can draw you know tons of headlines angles ideas what the niche is afraid of what they’re you know desire etc the next thing I want to talk about is affiliate managers so this was one of my jobs for a while as being an affiliate manager and basically my job was just to help anybody who wanted to promote our product we were pretty open not all companies are like this I’ll talk about that more in a second but for the most part these people are happy to have anybody promoting their product so if you reach out to affiliate managers usually you know they have an email address that you can send an email to and just say like hey I’m interested in promoting your product I plan on using being traffic do you you know have any good ad copy or do you have any special landing pages that are working really well right now so one thing is if they’re doing really well they’re having tons of people test their offers on different types of traffic so they may or may not you know have something for you we used to we developed you know packages of banner ads that we would give people we gave people you know special landing pages sometimes so don’t be afraid to ask you can ask the affiliate managers sometimes especially if you haven’t made a lot of sales you might not get that much attention in the beginning but some other other people are just totally open and they will help any and everybody who wants to promote their products so don’t be afraid to ask that’s another resource that you have you can you can literally ask them like hey you know I’m planning on doing being ads traffic you know what would you recommend which landing page would you recommend or you know what’s the best you know headline that’s working really well for you so just want you to know that that’s a resource you have as well so when we were just browsing around and Clickbank you might have seen but I did want to mention this that some offers don’t allow PPC they don’t actually allow you to bid on Bing to promote their products so you got to watch out for that that’s a secret not like a lucrative secret that’s kind of like that would really suck if you started promoting their product made a bunch of sales and then they saw that it came from bing and then they you know blocked you as an affiliate and revoked your commissions I don’t know that’s what they would do but I think they reserve the right to do that so make sure to look on their affiliate page though if they allow promoting on bing now usually I think the reason they do that is that they have their own paid traffic campaigns going and they just don’t want to have competition on that they want to own their own you know PPC traffic so just know that that’s a thing check in with them that would really suck to get all of your commissions revoked just because you didn’t read that you know that part of their agreement or whatever here’s another crazy secret that you probably didn’t know the people that own offers they usually don’t understand traffic at all and what I mean is to them their game is not to go out and buy traffic very few of them control their own traffic they mostly are built on joint venture email lists where they have other people with proving lists mail for their offers that’s like the bread and butter of Clickbank is is joint venture mailings where people mail to a list of qualified you know people so they tend to think in terms of JV or joint venture people they’re not really like like we were at the top and we still never hired anybody to run our own traffic we were always just asking other people to run traffic for us like there’s something in the Clickbank world that it’s like you know they they just want other people to send them traffic that’s like the whole Clickbank model as far as a vendor goes you just want people to send traffic from wherever it’s coming because you just make sales out of nowhere and that’s kind of the dream so just know that they don’t usually understand traffic if they did they’d probably be doing it and not allowing people to promote their product but that’s just not where they focus their time and energy they focus on conversion they focus on getting their sales things to convert better they focus on giving emails out to joint-venture you know people with lists basically that’s where they focus all their time and energy so if you can bring them traffic and it converts then you are a god you are basically their favorite person on the planet that’s actually why I got into traffic because I just noticed how revered the traffic people were from the side of a product owner and so just know that if you can get good at this skill set then people who have Clickbank products are gonna love you they’re gonna want to know you they’re gonna want to bend over backwards to help you promote their product and make them money so it’s definitely worthwhile to get good at this the other thing is slightly different than the one at the top some offers don’t allow PPC there’s another thing on Clickbank which I think it’s kind of kind of shitty but because I think the spirit of Clickbank is to you know allow anyone to promote your product but I also understand from the other side as a product owner when we were trying to do things like fighting the spammers using our link and getting our domain blacklisted so some people in order to do that in order to basically only work with a few affiliates they basically let Clickbank you know bring their offers up really high and then they stopped allowing people to promote the product so it keeps it exclusive to only a few really really good traffic people so again I think that’s kind of kind of crappy to do that but that’s just what they’ve chosen to do and I understand it from a business perspective so just know that some offers you might be confused like you know it says this offer is only allowed to be promoted by certain people and you can apply here well in my experience they don’t really approve those people those offers don’t really approve you unless you can prove that you’re going to make them money or if they just already know you so you know if you go to events marketing events you can meet them and be like hey I’d really love to promote your product I know I don’t have like a list or anything but you know I’m getting pretty good at this Bing ads thing and you know made a lot of sales for other products and I’d really love to give it a shot and hey if you’re friends then they might be like yeah sure well let you in but for the most part they’re not gonna listen unless you have a lot of sales data to to back it up or if maybe if you say that you have I mean obviously you shouldn’t lie but if you have a list of people that would be interested in their product they would be much more likely to say yes than if you’re just like I’m just gonna try to send some traffic and see if it works so just know that if you want to get approved for one of those offers the basic thing is they just want to know that you’re not gonna you know abuse their offer you’re gonna bring good quality traffic so if you have a proven track record of promoting other products and you can show them like in your Clickbank account or if you have a qualified list so if you’re like hey you know you don’t you don’t allow outside affiliates to promote your Paleo offer which i think is true of the top paleo offer but I happen to have a paleo list that I’ve built up through Bing that is you know got ten thousand people on it that signed up through this link to get a paleo recipe book so I think they’d really like your products would you mind you know clearing me as one of your affiliates and they’d be much more likely to say yes because it seems like a pretty sure bet on their part so just want to let you know how that dynamic plays out if you’ve ever been frustrated because certain offers are restricted especially when they’re doing really really well it’s can be frustrating the gravity scores secret so I talk about that more in the video below this that talks about gravity score but basically a lot of people misunderstand gravity score I don’t fully understand it and I think it’s a proprietary algorithm so they can always reserve the right to change it but this the secret to the gravity score is that if a gravity if a product has a gravity score of 30 it doesn’t mean that only 30 sales have been made it means that 30 different affiliates have made at least one sale in the last like 30 or 60 days and the difference is if you look at it and say oh 30 that’s not very much you know that’s that’s not a lot of sales well you might be your brain might be tricking you because when we were doing it usually one affiliate might be bringing in like thousands of sales but that would only show up as a gravity of 1 so if they have 30 affiliates they might have one affiliate that’s bringing in hundreds thousands of sales per day and that still only counts as gravity of 1 which might make you think oh there’s not that many people making money but that could still be amounting to you know $10,000 a day in sales or 50,000 or whatever so just don’t let the gravity the the smallness of a gravity number necessarily like trip you up in whether or not you should give it a product a shot just wanted to share that now if it has a gravity of zero then probably stay away unless you just really want to promote it or you want to give it a shot and see what happens you could be their first one you could be their first this one gravity and you could be the only one promoting it because nobody else is promoting a gravity of zero and you’re just like hahaha my one gravity score equals you know fifty sales a day and I’m making two grand a day so I hope it stays at zero or it stays at one because nobody else is even trying to promote this thing and it converts like crazy to my you know really pitched in keywords on bing so that’s another possible strategy I wouldn’t recommend that if you’re just starting out don’t don’t assume that’s going to be the case you should go with a good healthy gravity score of you know above 30 but just know that that’s part of the part of the ecosystem so the next thing is up cells and the reason I bring this up is a lot of times when you look at a product and you can see that it sells for thirty seven dollars you might be thinking oh that’s gonna take a million sales of $37 you know to make a profit but the thing is you might not be counting on up cells some products are better than this at other than others some products don’t really have up cells Clickbank actually tells you whether they have up cells or not but up cells can make a huge difference sometimes your thirty dollar sale can actually turn into a one hundred and fifty dollar sale or a three hundred dollar sale from upsells so now you might be thinking oh it takes me you know on average it’s I’m getting a thirty dollar sale with every twenty dollars of spend and some products don’t just don’t have up cells so if that’s the case then you have to make that first sale you know you gotta make the math work on the first sale but if they do have upsells then every once in a while let’s say you know one out of every five people is going to take an upsell so now you’re thirty seven dollar product that you’re making a thirty-eight commissioned home is actually gonna be a $60 sale so it’s gonna change your math it’s gonna change your you know EPC your earnings per click versus your cost per click so keep keep that in mind and also keep in mind that
