Creating a Photo Gallery in WordPress
The first thing you need to do is install and activate the Envira Gallery plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.
Upon activation, you need to visit Envira Gallery » Add New to create your first gallery.
On the next screen, you’ll be able to give your gallery a name and select the images you want to add to your gallery. You can upload images from your computer or use images from other sources like WordPress media library, NextGEN Gallery, DropBox, and more.
Once you’ve selected the images, you can add titles, descriptions, and tags.
After that, you can choose the gallery layout. Envira gallery comes with four different layouts, including masonry, justified, and more.
You can further customize your gallery by going to the Config tab. There you can choose which lightbox you want to use, enable or disable comments and EXIF data, and more.
When you’re satisfied with the settings, click on the Publish button to save your gallery.
Creating Albums in WordPress
Envira Gallery also lets you create albums to group your galleries together. To create an album, head over to Envira Gallery » Albums and click on the Add New button.
On the next page, you need to provide a name for your album and select the galleries you want to add to your album.
You can also choose to display the albums in a certain order on the front-end of your website.
Once you’re happy with the settings, click on the Publish button to save your changes.
Now that you have created your gallery and album, it’s time to add them to your WordPress posts and pages.
Adding Your Gallery or Album to WordPress Posts and Pages
To add a gallery or album to your post or page, simply edit the post or page where you want to add the gallery. On the post editor screen, you’ll notice a new Envira Gallery button in the WordPress toolbar.
Clicking on it will bring up a popup screen where you can select the gallery or album you want to insert into your post or page.
Once you’ve selected the gallery or album, click on the Insert Gallery button. WordPress will now add the shortcode to your post or page.
You can now preview your post or page to see the gallery or album in action.
