Step 1: Choose A Domain Name And Web Hosting
The first step is to choose a domain name and web hosting for your site. Your domain name is your website address (e.g., wpbeginner.com) while web hosting is where your website’s files are stored.
We recommend using Bluehost because they are one of the largest web hosting companies in the world and an official WordPress.org recommended hosting provider. Plus, they’re offering our readers an exclusive 63% off discount + a free domain name.
To get started, head over to Bluehost and click on the ‘Get Started Now’ button.
On the next screen, select the Basic plan. It’s the most popular option and the one you need to create an affiliate website.
Scroll down and enter your domain name in the next field. If you don’t have a domain name yet, then you can enter a new one or select one of their free domain names.
Next, fill out your account information and select the package extras that you want. The Site Backup & Restore is an important one as it helps you recover your site if something goes wrong.
Once you’re done, click on the ‘Submit’ button to continue.
On the next screen, you’ll need to enter your billing information. Enter your card details and click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete your purchase.
Once your purchase is complete, you’ll see a success message and your account details.
Step 2: Install WordPress
The next step is to install WordPress, which is a free and open-source content management system (CMS). It’s the platform that we recommend and is used by millions of websites, including many of the largest companies in the world.
Bluehost makes it easy to install WordPress with just a few clicks. First, you’ll need to log in to your web hosting account and navigate to the cPanel dashboard.
In the Software section of the cPanel, click on the ‘1-Click Installs’ icon.
On the next screen, scroll down and click on the WordPress icon to launch the installer.
Bluehost will now start installing WordPress. Once it’s finished, you’ll see a confirmation message along with your WordPress login URL, username, and password.
Click on the ‘View Credentials’ button to view/copy your WordPress login details.
You can now log in to your WordPress site by adding /wp-admin to the end of your domain name (e.g., example.com/wp-admin).
