If you have a lot of categories on your WordPress site, you may want to rename some of them for organization or clarity. Maybe you changed the focus of your site and need to update your category names to reflect that. Whatever the reason, it’s easy to rename a category in WordPress. Here’s how:
First, log into your WordPress site. Go to the Posts section and click Categories. Find the category you want to rename and click Edit.
In the Name field, enter the new name for the category. You can also change the Slug if you want. The slug is the portion of the URL that comes after your domain name. For example, if your domain name is example.com and you leave the default slug, the category URL would be example.com/category/new-category. But if you change the slug to new-category, the URL would be example.com/new-category.
If you have any posts in that category, you’ll need to decide what to do with them. You can leave them in the category, move them to a different category, or change the category name and slug for those posts.
Once you’ve made your changes, click Update. That’s it! You’ve successfully renamed your WordPress category.
