πŸ“šHere Are my 10 Most Highlighted Books from 2022, that I think you’ll appreciate:

Building A Second Brain – Tiago Forte

This is by far the most impactful book/philosophy I encountered last year. It’s a radically different approach to “Personal Knowledge Management” that unlocked a level of creativity in me that I didn’t know was possible.

I highlighted most of the book, and have been using the ideas learned from Tiago in every aspect of my life, and it has produced tremendous results in my ability to capture, organize, and express my creative ideas, projects, and better oganize my life.

If you check out no other book on the list, I highly recommend you get and read this one.

Work the System – Sam Carpenter and Josh Fonger

Another total game changer. This book is often cited in the startup world, and now I totally get it.

Last year I started the year with one focus: Learn how to automate my life.

One of the foundational building blocks of this was to finally really learn how systems work – what they are, how they impact every aspect of our life, and finally – how to build, tweak, and optimize these systems to get more results that I want more of in my life, and how to engineer a more relaxed, productive, happier, and prosperous life for myself – as well as become about 1000x better as a creator and entrepreneur.

Another book I think every HUMAN should read, but at the very least I hope every marketer and entrepreneur reads it.

Another book from Sam Carpenter also Included in my top highlighted list of 2022:

– The Systems Mindset – Sam Carpenter

Thinking in Systems – Donella H. Meadows

This is a bit more of a complex read, about how systems work in nature, in economics, in society, and in business. I won’t lie – it’s pretty dense. It’s much more of a scientific approach to understanding systems, and I can only read little bits at a time.

But I always feel smarter when I do, and I feel like it’s a great way to more fundamentally understand systems and how they work, especially as they regard to humans.

Bold – Peter H. Diamandis, Steven Kotler

This is a book I’ve had on my “to read” list for years now, but finally got around to reading it.

I think it’s a blueprint to “thinking bigger” which is one of my goals for 2023.

And by that, I don’t mean “make more money” – it’s more of a wholistic approach, with a big bias toward technology (something I’ve always been fascinated by and interested in) and how to leverage a different mindset (a BOLD mindset, as the author terms it) and the exponential leverage of technology to achieve amazing things and contribute to a brighter future for all of humanity.

The Status Game – Will Store

A really fascinating deep-dive into one of the primary motivators of human behavior – our relentless pursuit of status. I think this is a must-read for marketers.

No B.S. Wealth Attraction in the New Economy – Dan S. Kennedy

A great book about general wealth-generating principles from the legend himself, Dan Kennedy.

I have a goal to read everything he’s ever written over the next few years, and I’d recommend that to anyone who wants to get better at marketing, sales, or business in general.

He’s built his brand around “No B.S.” and all of his books definitely live up to that.

He cuts right to the quick when it comes to what really works in marketing.

In this book, he filters his No B.S. filter toward the general principles that help you increase opportunities for prosperity, revenue generation, and wealth.

Magnetic Marketing – Dan Kennedy

This is probably worth more than most college degrees in marketing when it comes to understanding the “fundamentals” – the evergreen principles of truth when it comes to selling things to people online.

Rich Dad’s Who Took My Money? – Robert T. Kiyosaki

I have a similar goal to read every book published by Robert and his co-authors under the “Rich Dad” brand.

So far every time I read any of his books, I feel like I’ve installed a new “upgrade” module matrix-style for my brain when it comes to understanding money, finances, investing, and business.

This one is an interesting and at times controversial look into some of the less-discussed truths behind the current financial system we live under.

Definitely worth a read.

Retire Young Retire Rich – Robert T. Kiyosaki

Robert’s specific take applying his philosophies to answer the question:

“If I wanted to retire – but when I’m still young – and with more than enough for me and my family – how would I do that?”

It allows him to explore themes and creative solutions that nobody else really talks about in most mainstream financial advice.

The idea of early retirement was sparked for me by Tim Ferris in “The 4 Hour Work Week” and the idea has never left me…

It’s great to hear Robert’s take on the concept.

How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big – Scott Adams

This is a really awesome blueprint for applying the “systems” mindset to your personal and professional life, told from the perspective of the creator of Dilbert, Scott Adams.

He’s got a cantankerous personality, and puts things very bluntly, which is refreshing.

He’s also a very accomplished person in business, in leveraging his unique blend of talents and interests, and deploying them in a non-conventional way to achieve incredible success and garner wealth.

He’s an entertaining author to read, and you can tell he’s really worked hard over his life to boil down his general observations and philosophies about business, life, relationships, success, and more into really concise concepts.

I loved this book, and took tons of notes.

It’s a bridge between pop pscyhology and self help, and science and the systems approach of sam carpenter.
