WordPress is a great content management system and one of its best features is its plugin architecture. plugins allow you to add features to your website without having to code them yourself. There are plugins for just about everything, including custom scrollbars.
In this article, we will show you how to add a custom scrollbar to any element in WordPress. This can be useful if you want to create a nice looking landing page or if you want to make your content area stand out.
Adding a Custom Scrollbar in WordPress
First thing you need to do is install and activate the Custom Scrollbar plugin. Upon activation, you need to visit Settings » Custom Scrollbar page to configure the plugin settings.
The plugin settings page is divided into two sections. The first section is for the content area and the second section is for the sidebar.
Content Area Settings
For the content area, you need to select a scrollbar color, width, and position. You can also decide whether you want the scrollbar to be always visible or only visible on hover.
The width setting is important because it will determine how thick the scrollbar will be. You can enter any value in pixels or leave it as auto to let the plugin automatically adjust the width.
The position setting allows you to place the scrollbar on the left or right side of the content area.
Sidebar Settings
For the sidebar, you can again select a scrollbar color and width. However, the position setting for the sidebar is fixed and you can not change it.
Once you are done with the settings, click on the Save Changes button to store your settings.
That’s all, you have successfully added a custom scrollbar to your WordPress website.
