all right so keyword research tool number one is kind of the original and still one of the best go-to is usually the place that I start and it’s free as long as you have an AdWords account so just start an AdWords account you don’t have to run a lot of ads I think you just I think you don’t have to run any ads you have to you have to start an ad and then you can just pause them immediately and never spend any money that’s totally fine but start an AdWords account and then you’re gonna go to tools and then keyword planner and this is gonna give you tons and tons of data and there’s a couple different ways that we can use it it’s starting to rain so we’re just letting this load here I will pause the video until it loads okay so we’ve got a couple different tools here I mostly use this one so let’s look into the wood working niche let’s just look up woodworking right now and start to look for some different ad groups that we can we can come up with ideas I mean average is gonna tell us some good ad groups but let’s just say we’re looking to run some ads in the woodworking niche this will give us some ideas for keywords and let us know what kind of trends are going on how many people roughly search for these things every month etc etc and roughly what people pay to bid on these keywords so you can see the the keyword woodworking has about 135,000 people per month searching for it if you look it actually breaks down each month individually so about 50,000 generally 60,000 so I’m not sure why it says a 135,000 because on the on these ones it says 65 to 50,000 so about 50,000 month searching for that broad term oops out excluded built ideas is fine woodworking plans looks like about 8,000 per month you can see monthly trends going on here so in October it climbs in December in January and then generally it will drop or it did drop in to about sixty six hundred and fifty four hundred down in June and then it kind of picked back up to September 2008 so you can check that out woodworking projects woodworking bench you can see fourteen thousand twenty seven thousand the cost per click here wood tools woodworking hand tools what projects so from here you can see all sorts of different ideas for ad groups it obviously depends on what exactly you’re promoting so let’s say we’re promoting the the woodworking plans you know this one the Ted’s Woodworking plans so that’s so that specifically plans now there’s two ways we can go about it here woodworking plans click get results and then now we have woodworking plans projects eight thousand fourteen thousand the top of page bid in google is fifty cents 61 cents that means you can probably get clicks for maybe a third of that – a little less wood projects woodworking ideas these are all good keywords you know these would be great to add to you know if you’re gonna build just an ad group about woodworking plans and I would add all of these I would add woodworking plans projects wood projects woodworking ideas as exact match and phrase match small woodworking projects woodworking bench plans woodworking patterns so you can you can see you can get a lot of different ideas here furniture plans woodworking magazine now that that you might want to put in its own ad group DIY wood projects there’s just different ways that people say things and obviously they’re getting searched now I wouldn’t exclude anything just because it has a lower number here it’s totally totally fine dab it on something like wood furniture plans wood project plans small wood projects so that’s the kind of the first way to use the Google Adwords Keyword tool is to just get get relevant keywords to whatever you’re searching it’s pretty pretty done useful now the other way is pretty cool for especially for doing affiliate marketing but also to check on what works in the particular niche that you’re in so like if you’re looking at what your competitors are doing so what you do is you copy the the route URL in this case it’s Ted’s Woodworking com and then we’re gonna go to this thing we’re gonna delete that keyword and just put in the so you can search for the entire site or this page only so it’s only one page on a particular website so we’re gonna search the entire site of Ted’s Woodworking com it’s actually going to pull out keywords that Google thinks are relevant to this website it’s not what Google thinks it’s what they kind of know because they’re Google they know everything mmm so this makes sense I mean that product is is 16,000 woodworking plans so the most relevant keyword that Google can find that’s relevant to that website is the keyword 16,000 woodworking plans that would be a really great exact match and phrase match keyword to add to an ad group for this product Ted’s Woodworking Affiliate if you’re trying to promote it as an affiliate you probably don’t want a bid on this because people who are looking for it as an affiliate are not going to be the ones buying the program if they do they’ll probably refund so don’t do that so you might want to add affiliate as a negative keyword so it doesn’t show up or your ads don’t show up for it Ted’s Woodworking 16,000 plans 16,000 woodworking plans so each of these are only getting a few times a month but if you put them all in one a group then you’ll have a pretty good shot of you know showing up for those member login you probably don’t want to bid on that what login you don’t want that login now Ted’s Woodworking plans free maybe Ted’s Woodworking calm so you can see it starts with the most relevant these are all very very very relevant to that particular product because people are literally searching for that product Ted’s Woodworking just that keyword gets searched 1300 times a month woodworking affiliate program wooden chair plans blueprints now that’s okay these ones are a little more interesting to me because they’re not specifically about the product but they are according to Google extremely relevant to that domain so these are the kind of things I might build a whole ad group around woodworking project plans or an entirely different ad group around wooden chair plans so alright so let’s take that one let’s go wooden chair plans blueprints and now let’s kind of take that and build out an ad group of keywords and ad groups worth of keywords so it was wooden chair plans I’m gonna remove the blueprints part now let’s see okay so that was the most relevant keyword that Google said that what they didn’t directly have to do with Ted woodworking plans that was relevant to that website so let’s start with that one wooden chair plans okay so the most relevant keyword to that is wood chair plans 480 searches a month woodworking plans just generally 8,000 searches a month woodworking projects Adirondack chair plans 9900 woodworking furniture plans wood bench plans okay so now we’re drifting off a little bit DIY see I might create an entirely different ad group for the Adirondack thing so Adirondack chair plans DIY Adirondack chair add those to their own ad group that has to do with Adirondack chair plans free woodworking plans Morris chair plans don’t know what that is but I’m sure it’s very relevant double Adirondack chair plans I’d add that to the Adirondacks ad group woodworking projects for kids probably wouldn’t do that garden bench so so that’s how you can research using the Google AdWords tool two different ways you can either find keywords to put into your ad groups and know by relevance how how likely they are to get really good clicks you can also kind of estimate how expensive it is to be in this niche this one looks very reasonable I mean all the all the cost per click the relative the front page cost per click are below $1 so seems totally fine to me you can look for trends you can you can see you know people search for this a lot in the summer the wood chair plans you can see that that little shape woodworking plans itself more people search for it in the winter and then it dips down in the summer so that’s interesting but the chair plans looks like yeah so they go up in the spring people are probably looking to build chairs in the spring so lots of really really good good information generally but also just just tactically you can also just go in and you know literally click all of these the Adirondack ones and say add to a new ad group I don’t know how to spell that but basically you can if you have keywords everywhere a different tool that we’ll talk about here then you can export these to a CSV and import them into Bing but really good really good place to get keywords you can add them to like a spreadsheet you know copy them from here and paste them into the spreadsheet of the keywords that you’re collecting so then remember the other way is to reverse engineer a an existing website or web page to see what keywords are most relevant so you can get tons and tons of keywords from here that very relevant and I should help a lot
